Member Spotlight – Western Virginia Emergency Medical Services Council, Inc.

Why was your organization founded?
Since then, WVEMS has expanded its services to offer education, hospital preparedness planning, grant administration, and much more. We are one of 11 such EMS councils in Virginia, with offices in Roanoke, Radford and Martinsville.
Why is your organization unique? How do you affect the quality of life in Virginia?
Part of WVEMS' mission is to provide a means of quality assurance and performance improvement for the provision of emergency medical cervices in our 12-county region. We also provide and assist in the offering of EMS education and in the process to accredit advanced EMS training programs. By assuring a quality EMS system, we potentially impact every citizen and visitor in our region.
What recent accomplishment are you most proud of?
After leasing office space for our headquarters in the Roanoke area for over 25 years, WVEMS has recently contracted to purchase our own office building ... a major investment and testament to the fiscal health of our organization.
