2008 Nonprofit Congress - June 1-4, Washington, DC
The leaders of state association networks have long had a vision of bringing charitable organizations together to fully involve nonprofits in prescribing, guiding, and influencing the direction of the sector and our country. The 2008 Nonprofit Congress continues the work of the 2006 initiative to unite America’s diverse nonprofit organizations.
About the Congress
The Nonprofit Congress, the brainchild of the National Council of Nonprofit Associations and nonprofit leaders, is an unprecedented effort to unite nonprofits and strengthen the charitable sector. Nonprofit leaders from every state and subsector convened at the National Meeting in October 2006 to affirm the values that all nonprofits share and prioritize the issues generated from input gathered at over 100 local nonprofit Town Hall meetings held across the country. The goal of that event was to create a collective action plan for the sector. Now, with the three priorities of public awareness, leadership, and capacity buidling, action is underway!
VANNO's role
State association networks were quickly identified as a key link to grassroots and “front-line” nonprofits. VANNO is fully supporting this initiative. Accordingly, a delegation to the event will convene Town Hall meetings throughout Virginia during the winter and spring of 2008. These gatherings will collect ideas and opinions from local nonprofits to be added to the national meeting. Learn more about the Virginia Town Hall meetings.
